Ampersand
Records USA is the first of it's kind "Nationwide Television
Record Label,"
with many fine
quality recordings available in many styles. The company was started
by musicians, and continues to operate in a manner 'most beneficial to
the Artist', rather than just the label. Unlike many major record labels
who take the lions share of CD profits, Ampersand Records believes the
ARTIST IS KING, not the label! So when you are purchasing CD's, songs
or any other merchandise from Ampersand, you can rest assured that the
Artist is getting the fair share they deserve.
If it worked before....
Selling CD's on television thru
direct marketing is nothing new. In fact, Slim Whitman really started
it all in the 70's. He promoted his albums on television via 60/90 second
spots and soon found that television advertising SELLS RECORDS..... 90
million or so. Slim's smooth voice even outsold the Beatles in England! "With all of the records that
had been recorded at Ampersand Studios, television seemed the logical
direction to take for us," said Bob Harris - founder of the company. "We
simply never had much luck with standard distribution. Even with our
CD's available in stores, without promotion, no one's going to buy."
Let's try it......
Television proved to be the fit back
in 2000 with Ampersand's first commercial broadcast featuring the music
of Bob Harris & Lucy Clark. "We
made a tribute CD to Les Paul and Mary Ford," said Clark. "Our
manager at the time sent in a demo of a few of our songs-the next thing
I knew, we were signed to Atlantic/Q Records! As time went on, Bob decided
to shoot his own commercial to publicize the CD, so we went to a filming
producer to do the job." "It did well for the short time
it was on," said Harris. "We ended up selling a nice number
of CD's and also gained radio recognition. We had DJ's calling us from
all over the country. That's when I got the TV BUG."
For the next 3 years, an expensive, narrow-minded fixation with television
engulfed Ampersand Records..............
